Children and Adolescents

Katie’s work with children and adolescents involves meeting the unique needs of each child and teen where ever they may be, personally or developmentally, through an integrated approach that includes neuroscience, attachment, and play.

Play is a child’s language, so Katie offers play therapy in order for children to better express their feelings and experiences. Neuroscientific studies prove that meeting a child where they are developmentally is essential for vital growth.

Katie also collaborates with parents to offer developmental insights and understanding of their child as well as how to practically engage with them. She uses “The Whole Brain Child,” “Brainstorm,” and resources from “Educate and Empower Kids” as references for parents. She incorporates approaches from these in sessions with parents, working to help bridge the gap between children and adults. As a result, children and parents are better able to connect and flourish.

Couples

Katie works with couples experiencing communication and conflict, stress and transition, and extramarital affairs. Primarily using the Gottman Couples Therapy model, she incorporates practical and tangible ways to better connect with and understand your spouse so that there is a stronger sense of trust and commitment surrounding the relationship. This includes managing conflict, building fondness and admiration for one another, knowing one another’s world in the midst of the day to day mundane, and learning how to cultivate and enjoy a shared meaning in life.

Women’s Issues

Katie enjoys working with women of all ages. She sees beauty in coming alongside women wrestling with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, loss and grief, major life changes, and transitions.
